About us
We are part of the Worldwide family of Scouting which started in the UK in August 1907 after an experimental camp on Browsea Island by Lord Baden Powell, for children of all backgrounds. The idea of giving children a chance to learn through doing and giving them responsibility, has since spread to nearly every country in the world. The skills they learn and achieve in Scouting has helped many children to forge friendships, gain confidence and earn respect throughout their lives.
Loughton Scouts in Milton Keynes was re-established as a Group on 13/10/1993 (although records show we existed/closed before that) and has been thriving ever since. We currently have two Beaver Colonies, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop for children of ages between 6 and 14 years. The sections are all run by volunteers, who freely give up their time to help others.
We are always seeking like minded adults to build on the many achievements that we have developed throughout the Group’s existence. If you can give even a little time to spare, we would welcome your help. If you wish to volunteer on a regular basis we will require you to complete a DBS form, free of charge but there are many things to do to help outside of the regular weekly meetings we hold – so please don’t be shy and ask if you can help us out.
Other roles in Scouting include:
Committee membership (fund raising, admin support etc) – Badge co-ordinator – Quartermaster – Recording payments each week – occasional badge testing using a skill that you have (cooking, science, sports etc)
Please do get in touch via our Group contact page.
